  1. I agree that we need/crave honest reviews of our work. Will you please consider reviewing my fantasy novel? Entitled, "A Twist of Fate," it runs about 80,000 words and I can provide it in whatever format you prefer. I can be contacted on Goodreads (where this book is listed) or via e-mail at markwj01@bellsouth.net.

This story takes place on the planet Ecru, in a medieval milieu. A magician searches for a healer that he believes can cure his wife's illness (they do not have a word for it, but it is leukemia). Traveling with his best friend, they pick up a couple of companions along the way, encounter various people who hint at the magician's destiny, and do battle with everything from goblins to a minor deity.

    Thank you for your consideration.

    2. Title: The Blank : Timeless Series 1
      Author: Kithsiri Chandralal
      Genre/Category: Science Fiction / Fantasy
      Amazon link : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087ZLTYQS

Life and the universe are mysterious. If everything gets along, that implies they are born into this world. If not, what could happen? "The Blank is a book about the true life that resides in the soul." The intriguing life is explained by the transition of life in many cosmic planes which lies within a time reduction.

"Keeth" was sent to the earth from a timeless place known as Ciatee. That is, they were required to cleanse his polluted mind in the prison called "Earth" before taking him back to the Ciatee. Before sending his consciousness to the Earth, they were made bonded his mind to three types of bonds. That is, with Time, the Gravity of the earth, and the Human body. After overlaying Keeth’s consciousness with a child to be born in the womb of a human mother, he can start existence on Earth. That is until purifies his mind he can stay on earth.

"Alex" is a pure human on Earth, and he is an exceptional and creative man. His goal is to access the timeless world through mathematical notions.

This is the nice story of "time reduction, parallel universes, liquid technologies, and mind relativity."

Please contact me at theblanktimeless@gmail.com and I will happily send you the ebook file of your preference.

  2. Hello Royce,

I hope I find you in good spirits. I have a book you might find interest in. This short memoir follows my journey with depression and suicide ideations before and in the military. I've written the book under a pen name for multiple reasons and it can be found here on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSP14JX

I will also include a description of the book below .

    --

August two-thousand sixteen. Nothing spectacular about this month; nothing out of the ordinary. But for me, Brittany M. Tucker, it was the beginning of what felt like a hellish joke. A seed given directly from Satan. I was battling suicidal ideations, and even went on to attempt it; twice. From July to February of the following year, I was bent on finding a way to happiness and freedom. I was running from doubt, hopelessness, agitation, self-hate, irritability, embarrassment, and self-loathing. I didn’t see an end to my troubles, or a patch for my wounds. All I saw was more failure, more sickness, more regret, and no hope. I did not want to live anymore. I did not want to smell the sunflowers a final time, I didn’t want to eat pizza one last time, and I surely didn’t want to hug my parents one last time. I wanted to die. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to cease to exist.

This intensely, and sometimes inappropriately, detailed work, follows my path from suicidality to ever changing mood stabilizers, and finally; contempt. I describe my suicide attempts in grave detail; my thought process and inward feelings. I talk about my sexuality in relation to my mother, father, and siblings. I speak about my affair, and how it intertwined with my second suicide attempt. I address my life in the military, and how every aspect took a toll on my career. This work covers a lot of ground and can relate to multiple people in more than one category. Gay and Lesbian individuals deal with suicide and family issues as I did. Military members endure a different environment of mental health than most civilians.

Parents who have children who’ve committed suicide often wonder why, they cannot understand how the brain works, and why an individual would go as far as to make a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Similarly, there are teens and young adults who right now are seeking help, compassion, and understanding. Most importantly, they are seeking someone, with the same background, to tell them why they should not do it.

My memoir is about hearing that voice. The beacon that one can listen to and see a light of hope. While in alcohol addiction treatment, we were “forced” to read the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was a moving read, filled with compassion and understanding. I want to invent the same concept for those who struggle with suicide. Too many people suffer from this affliction and I want to assist in being a voice of reason, because there is hope. Someone just has to show it to them.

    Humorous memoir, 160,000 words.
    Website is http://www.longbinhdaze.com.
    Email: danmark@pacificwest.com

Over the past half century there have been hundreds of first-person accounts written about the Vietnam War. Nearly all have been chiefly concerned with either: a) the rigors and horrors of combat, b) how wrong and/or tragic the war was, or c) how right and/or honorable it was.
In their new memoir "Long Daze at Long Binh: The humorous adventures of two Wisconsin draftees trained as combat medics and sent off to set up a field hospital in South Vietnam," the authors cast all those considerations aside.
Instead they focus on the many humorous aspects of the realities encountered in a combat zone, as well as vivid descriptions of what daily life was like for the nearly 2.5 million Americans sent to Vietnam not as combat troops but as support personnel.

    Author: Young-Im Lee
    Genre/Category: Historical Thriller/Adventure/ Young Adult

DARE TO DREAM IN THE MIDST OF WAR.

1945. Rice fields seem endless in a quaint farming village of South Korea, yet Iseul and the villagers have been on the verge of starvation for as long as they can remember; the last of their Japanese colonizers have taken every last grain with them. In the newly independent Korea, Iseul dreams of what her future might bring. Yet, war is on the horizon, and the boy she has fallen for is an alleged North Korean communist spy.

Amidst war, Jung-Soo and Jia embark on a comic journey of self-discovery across the mountainous peninsula, where they are aided by the occasional legendary ghost and animals. Music helps them pass the time, as does the radio and the crafty carpentry skills of Iseul who would eventually make history with her handcrafted hanji paper. Unexpected friendships are forged, love burgeons and betrayal taints their elusive dreams.

In the current international climate where North Korea takes center stage, “Forgotten Reflections” ponders on what the Korean War means to South Korea, spanning three generations as the nation rises from the ashes.

  10. Hello Royce,

Have you ever wondered about the afterlife?

Christian Michael Anderson has. In fact, as he sits at his desk bemoaning his current state, the afterlife is precisely where he wants to be. Christian hasn’t been doing so well lately. He’s out of work, out of money and out of alcohol, but when he loops a stolen rope through the exposed rafters in his ceiling and places that noose around his neck, his adventure has only begun…

Welcome to the world of my 114,000 word paranormal fantasy novel The Adversary’s Good News, a divine comedy – inverted. This book contains the chronicles of Christian’s adventures through the afterlife. It’s here amid life after death where Christian encounters joke-telling gargoyles, the “Great Beast” imprisoned in a cage, a drug-dealing Tinkerbell, and much more. Eventually, however, Christian realizes he’s entered a psychologically haunted world far beyond anything his nightmares ever envisioned. During his imprisonment in the serpentine city of Pandemonium, he discovers death is a trap. Instead of being the escape he envisioned, it’s forced him to confront his own, personal demons.

I’m Israfel Sivad – poet, novelist and founder of Ursprung Collective, an international spoken/music/visual art project. Today, I want to invite you to experience The Adversary’s Good News, the novel Self-Publishing Review has called “a book about big ideas that will have you looking differently at your own life by book’s end.”

My first novel, Crossroads Blues, was compared to the work of Fyodor Dostoevsky by Palmetto Review. The Adversary’s Good News has already been nominated for the 2016 Chanticleer Paranormal Book Award. My writing has appeared in the Santa Fe Literary Review, The Stray Branch and Badlands Literary Journal. I hope you’re interested in reviewing The Adversary’s Good News for your blog. 11. Hey Royce!

I'll keep it short for the comment, but I'm hoping you might be interested in reviewing "The White Light of Tomorrow" by D. Pierce Williams. It's science fiction, 350 pages in paperback (sorry I don't have a word count!)

    Here's the blurb:

In a future dominated by the Church and defended by the sword, one piece of forbidden technology may change all the rules.

A future cataclysm has landed mankind in a new Dark Age. The Church decides what leftover pieces of technology may and may not be used, employing armed knights to enforce its rules and collect its tithes. Adrian of Tarsus is one such enforcer, but Adrian is secretly using his position to acquire forbidden Machina in hopes of curing his adopted daughter of her increasingly severe illness -- an illness he fears is tied to the most heretical technology of all.

  13. Here are some more books that we offer.
    Locker Rooms, by Patty Lesser.

Like most people, Alida has contemplated one of life’s biggest mysteries: What happens to your soul when you die? What if it is stolen by a cruel demon, and your eternity’s resting place becomes an empty locker in a secret cavern? What if the biblical hell was a real place, where real people suffered unspeakably? It is real, and it is a horrifying place, where the souls of good people are imprisoned with no hope for escape or rescue ... until Alida appears. Putting her life in jeopardy, Alida battles a wicked demon and even the true devil to win the right to free the souls and return them to their own graves, where they can rest in peace. Locker Rooms is a story of love and hate, friends and enemies, religion and history, and the eternal battle between good and evil. It tells the story of a lost woman who changes her life when she saves the souls of good people being imprisoned by a demon for his own narcissistic pleasure. What she experiences in the process will change her life forever.

    Rebeckah Davis' fantasy Claire Voyant.
Claire Voyant has plans when she turns eighteen. She wants to change her name and go off to college, being as normal as possible. But when her grandmother mysteriously dies, Claire learns that her name wasn’t some sort of practical joke, but a clue to the magic her future holds. Suddenly she is surrounded by ghosts, realizing that her calling, before she even knew it, was to help lost spirits. But one spirit wants to cause trouble for Claire and until she figures out how to control her gift, he might just take her life.

  14. Jennifer Ott's Desperate Moon, historical romance with fantasy elements. (YA or adult)
Countess Katerina Vaduva roams Eastern Europe as a vampire for nearly six hundred years experiencing the horrors of mortal man - wars, plagues, genocide and torture. For centuries, she seeks shelter and security in the castles of counts and sultans. When her husband the Count of Slovakia passes, she pursues a new life with a colonel in the Prussian military. While her husband quests victory at battle, Katerina desires a naturalist scientist who seduces her with knowledge and a greater understanding of herself, for this she will risk everything for the one thing she never had - immortal love and the pursuit of progress. This novel humanizes vampires and the monsters/outcasts and shows centuries of human history from an outside perspective.

Joy Coates' Integrity: An Obsidian Guardians novel. Fantasy novel for teens and adults. Audra moves to the small town of Integrity to get away from everyone and be anonymous. There, she discovers that there's truth to the legend of gargoyles coming to life to protect certain people, who have certain destinies to protect the balance of the universe. Her guardian, Castile, failed to protect his past charges, but can he succeed with Audra? This paranormal suspense is part of a series.

Jordan Acker's The Shadows. (YA or adult) Future society where intergalactic war has finally come to an end because humans have defeated the tyrannical Balithians. However, an assassin kills a human politician, putting the peace at risk. Can a few agents go and find the man who calls himself Red Blaze and prevent a return to war?

Mordraud Chronicles by Fabio Scalini. Medieval fantasy where three brothers find themselves caught in an epic battle between the free kingdoms and the powers that be, who shape the world to their purposes through music and chants. Compared to the Witcher series, focuses on characters and the varying moral choices they make to survive the war and freezing winter. Much more effort goes into character and psychology that also applies to real life than into creating fantastical characters, although the landscape gets evoked well here. Published by an Italian startup, Rampart.

  16. Hello, Royce!

I would be interested in having you review my new, science-thriller, Wendall’s Lullaby.

    ------

Hundreds of dolphins have mysteriously beached themselves in Galveston, Texas, and Dr. Angela Clarke is on a mission to understand why. The US National Director for Marine Mammal Health and Stranding jets to Texas—unknowingly a pawn in the national security plans of THE FEW.
An intimate group of former military men, THE FEW has infiltrated key positions within the government and orchestrated Dr. Clarke’s appointment—hoping her conservative, by-the-book approach will protect the top secret project a retired admiral sees as a lasting tribute to his dead son.
When more animals hit the beach and an unusually large group of dolphins is spotted massing in the waters of Tampa Bay, Dr. Clarke must rely on an unconventional team—sorting through the ideas of her action-oriented South African beau, the conspiratorial rants of her ex-lover, the innocent insight of a 12-year old boy and the genius of a washed-out MIT grad student —in a race to save a charismatic species loved for its built-in smile.

If you are interested, I’m happy to gift you a Kindle version of Wendall’s Lullaby. It's also available on Kindle Unlimited.

  17. Hi Royce,

If you like superhero fiction, my novel, Almost Invincible, is about 50K words. The blurb is below:

A theme park turns into a death-trap of sadistic supervillains…

White Knight is the most popular superhero in the country—which is bad news for David Del Toro, formerly White Knight, who retired from heroics years ago and just wants some peace and quiet. When the White Knight ride at a superhero-inspired theme park has a grand reopening, Dave is more than happy to give his complimentary tickets to his daughter and her friends and spend the day at home. But then the park gets taken hostage by supervillains.

The man known as Bloodbath spent the last decade in a maximum-security prison and blames White Knight for putting him there. He’s given an ultimatum: the hero comes to face him, or he’ll kill every tourist in the park. Dave barely managed to beat Bloodbath while in his prime and doesn’t like his chances now that he’s old and busted. But unless he does something, every innocent person in the park is going to die…including his daughter.

In the wake of a complete societal collapse, the former United States has reconstituted itself into a number of settlements clustered around the central city of New DC, where a newly formed government hopes to rebuild the once great nation. Out of this chaos there arises a group known as the Singulars, who claim to have access to a device capable of merging human beings into a single consciousness. But in the face of utopian promises, a darker truth begins to reveal itself about the nature of belief, and the looming threat of evil that is always present in the human soul.

A story about the human quest for stability, and the mazes by which the individual and collective go astray, Light Bearing is book that lives on the border of science fiction, fantasy, and mysticism.

  22. Dear Royce,

I was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing my genre-blurring psychedelic novel, THE LIGHTNING STENOGRAPHY DEVICE. It will be published on March 19th, 2018 by my publishing house, Painted Blind Publishing, in multiple formats, including ebook (.MOBI and .PDF only at this time). In hardback, it is 430 pages in length; in paperback, it is 472. I will be receiving the final ebook this week and would love to send you a copy if you would be interested in reviewing it.

The first marketable thought to text device is released for public consumption in 2031. That same year, author Cassius Wagner will have a seizure. At least, that is what the novel says: the novel to which he awakens in fragments one morning after a late night of writing. This novel. Terrified to have a prophetic manuscript unfurling at his heels, his desperation to evade his fate prevents him from considering his lover and editrix, Katherine Beauvoir, might be wrestling with a destiny of her own. Told in four psychedelic parts, THE LIGHTNING STENOGRAPHY DEVICE blurs the speculative fiction and fantasy genres to explore the very fabric of literature, and reality.

Please find below its ISBNs, and a link to its Goodreads page. It is not yet available for pre-order on Amazon, and is therefore not presently reviewable on their site: however, on the date of the book's release (March 19th, 2018), I will send you a reminder e-mail with its Amazon page if you would be so kind as to post your review there, as well. Please be sure to see the beautiful cover art by artist, Nuno Moreira, available on the Goodreads page!

  23. Royce,

At first glance, The Book of Ralph seems like a comedic sci-fi adventure, and it is! But, at its core, it is a philosophical novel, and definitely has a dark side. Here's the pitch:

A message appears on the moon. It is legible from Earth, and almost no one knows how it was created. Markus West leads the government’s investigation to find the creator.

The message is simple and familiar. But those three words, written in blazing crimson letters on the lunar surface, will foster the strangest revolution humankind has ever endured, and make Markus West wish he was never involved.

The message is ‘Drink Diet Coke.’

When Coca-Cola denies responsibility, mass annoyance becomes worldwide indignation. And when his investigation confirms Coca-Cola’s innocence, Markus West becomes one of the most hated men on Earth.

Later, five miles above the White House, a cylinder is discovered floating in the night. It is 400 feet tall, 250 feet in diameter, and exactly resembles a can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup. Nearly everyone thinks the cylinder is a promotional stunt gone wrong, just like the lunar advertisement. And this is exactly what the alien in the cylinder wants people to think.

Ralph, an eccentric extraterrestrial who’s been hiding on the moon, needs Markus’s help to personally deliver a dark warning to the White House. Ralph has a big heart, a fetish for Andy Warhol, and a dangerous plan to save the world.

The Book of Ralph is an uncanny adventure that uses humor, philosophy, and an alien invasion to explore the down to Earth concept of humility.

The publisher is Medallion. Word count is 78k.

    Thank you for your time.

  24. Hi, I have a 44k word sci-fi/fantasy called The Illumination Query that could use a review in June.
    You want a blurb:
The Eclipse is a company of evil.
Ronald Carpenter finds himself stuck helping them after they assist him.
Dr. Nigel Hunter gets caught up in mad experiments for The Eclipse, and doesn't know how he can escape once the company turns on him.

  25. Book Title: The Memory of Lost Dreams

    Word Count: 113,000 words

    Book blurb:

What happened to this place so long ago?

    Synopsis:

I wrote The Memory of Lost Dreams from a perspective of a painfully-ordinary character, Malik Soules, who doesn't know anything from the story's beginning. You as a reader will learn more about his circumstances as well as he proceeds to learn terror and beauty, and he dives into a strange new world in the midst of his dreams. My story is not predictable, and it is complex to take a simple idea and explore the many possibilities resulting from it, intertwining reality, time, history, and ideas with pure fantasy. I have passages that are written beautifully and I have passages that are written crudely, but as a complete work, the story aims to entice your imagination to keep reading on. You could read it for mere entertainment, you could utterly love or hate it, or you could think deeper about the ideas of the plot if you please (it depends on the reader's imagination). Imagery is front and centerpiece, and it will be found on every page. This is a unique plot-driven story to answer the ultimate question: Will he have a possible chance to escape his dreams?

  26. Hi Royce,
I'm looking for reviews for my debut which I'm hoping will be up your street.

Literature® is a speculative noir. Here's the blurb:

We don't know exactly when Literature® takes place and we don't know exactly where. All we know is that Philip Marlowe would fit right in.
We don't get Marlowe though. We get Billy Stringer. And Billy is on nobody's trail.
    He's the prey.
The day hasn't begun very well for Billy. He just messed up his first big assignment, he's definitely going to be late for work, his girlfriend won't get back to him and, for reasons she has something to do with, he's dressed like a clown.
Also, he's pretty sure someone is going to kill him today. But then, that's an occupational hazard, when you're a terrorist.
He's a bookworm too, which wouldn't be a problem–or particularly interesting–except that in Billy's world, fiction is banned. Reading it is what makes him an outlaw.
Why? Because people need to get to work.
It's fight or flight time for Billy and he's made his choice. But he has to see Jane, even if it's for the last time–to explain it all to her, before she finds out what he has become. That means staying alive for a little while.
And the odds are against him.

    Praise for Literature®

    E.O.HIGGINS,
    CONVERSATIONS WITH SPIRITS, UNBOUND/PENGUIN

"A clever interweaving of speculative fiction, dystopian vision and classic noir, what’s most striking about Literature® is the quality of the writing...lean and spare with moments of beauty fizzing through...it is also very funny."
    KATHERINE GRAHAM, THEATRE RE

“Literature® is a dark and deft commentary on a world rumbling towards illiteracy."
    CHRISTOPHER ALLEN,
    OTHER HOUSEHOLD TOXINS, MATTER PRESS

“Here we have a classic treatise in the making.”
    GOODREADS

“This is satire in the grand tradition: Fahrenheit 451 but with better jokes.”

  28. Dear Royce,

My name is Jonathan Fesmire, and I'm a professional novelist, blogger, and copywriter. I think you may enjoy my novel "Bodacious Creed: a Steampunk Zombie Western."

I would be happy to send you free Kindle or ePub copy of the novel, with the request for a review. "Bodacious Creed" is 120,000 words and intended for an adult audience. A movie based on it would be rated R for strong language, violence, and mild nudity. It is the first in an intended series titled The Adventures of Bodacious Creed. Currently, I'm outlining and doing research for the sequel.

The Amazon sales page for the Kindle edition is here: https://www.amazon.com/Bodacious-Creed-Steampunk-Western-Adventures-ebook/dp/B073Z4KRVY/.

Thank you for your time! I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Wishes,

    Jonathan

    Book Blurb:

U.S. Marshal James Creed has known loss, starting from the untimely death of his wife and daughter in a sudden fire. His work, chasing down and arresting outlaws across the Wild West, is all he has left to live for. Then one day, in 1876, the infamous killer Corwin Blake catches Creed by surprise and guns him down.

Creed awakes after a mysterious young woman resurrects him in a basement laboratory beneath a brothel. Half alive, Creed feels torn between his need for justice and his desire to fall back into the peace of death. Creed's instincts drive him to protect the city of Santa Cruz, California, from the outlaws it harbors while searching for Blake.

He uncovers a secret criminal organization, likely protecting Blake, determined to use resurrection technology for its own ends. The former marshal, now faster, stronger, and a more deadly shot than ever before, must work with a brothel madam, a bounty hunter, and the remaining marshals to uncover the criminal syndicate before they can misuse the machines of rebirth and create more mindless zombies. Meanwhile, he must also stop Blake, before the outlaw kills the only people he cares about.

    His own death can wait.

    Author Biography:

Author Jonathan Fesmire, originally from Santa Cruz, California, now lives in Southern California with his son. By day, he's a copywriter, by evening a steampunk author, and at all times, a dedicated dad.

Though Jonathan started out writing fantasy, he has moved completely to steampunk, enchanted with its aesthetics, possibilities, and implications. He's a fan of the stories, the art, and the gadgets, and enjoys interacting with the community. In fact, Jonathan regularly interviews popular members of the steampunk community for his The Wild Steampunk Blog.

Taking place in a distant future of humanity where, fears both rational and irrational, have resulted in the creation of a new kind of city. Impregnable to any form of disaster, both natural and human made, Bramada is the city-fortress, constantly maintained 24/7, 365 days a year by its automatons.

Whether it’s assisting the inhabitants of the city in their day to day tasks or to ensure their safety, the variety of the many automatons throughout the city has made Bramada a one of a kind place on Earth.

However, it is amongst the thousands of automatons that inhabit Bramada, that one wheeled automaton suddenly finds itself gaining what it believes is a self awareness. Upon this awakening, the automaton dreams and seeks to escape the city and the superintelligence in charge.

And that might just become possible upon the one wheeled automaton meeting a man who desires the same future and so, a pact between machine and human is made and thus, commences the story of CROSS...

I would be honored if you would consider looking into my book. It's a science fiction, post-apocalypse, action/adventure story. It's about 120,000 words, 412 pages (with chapter art and maps).
Here's the back cover blurb for my book: It has been centuries since Earth's societies crumbled, leaving the planet a nearly barren wasteland. Since then, the remnants of humanity have slowly rebuilt isolated civilizations with new cultures and ideas, all seemingly unaware of how the world ended. It is a world ravaged by war, illness, and famine. To Benedict Limmetrad, the outcast son of Freztad's former chief, that world is about to get much bigger. When the mysterious forces of a faraway land capture a beloved member of his village, Ben embarks on a quest to bring her home-only to discover that the world is far more dangerous and mysterious than he had once thought. His journey proves perilous, and he is faced with death and danger at every turn. Throughout his quest, Ben's values and sense of self are pushed to the limits as he uncovers the secrets of the world, its past, and himself.

  35. Hello, Royce.
Thanks for the opportunity to tell you about my new Sci-Fi novel, Fractured Prophecy, due to be released on 7July, 2019 as an eBook. (The paperback edition will follow within a month.)

Fractured Prophecy is the fourth book in the action/adventure series, Prosperine, and in my humble opinion, the best I've written to date. It can be read as another chapter in the adventures of Hickory Lake, but equally can stand alone. It has been edited by Amy Bennett, and is currently being proofread.

This is the blurb as it currently stands (it will get better!):

The promised alien Messiah is dead.
Hickory witnessed his spaceship, the Ark, light up like a roman candle when it flew into Prosperine’s sun, but Hickory wants to believe he survived the crash—somehow.
When reality sinks in, Hickory’s belief in the prophecy that has driven the Alien Corps’ quest over the last century is fractured.
Miraculously, a life pod is spotted, but who or what does it contain?
The Galactic Alliance doesn’t know, but the technology used to build it is far more advanced than anything on Earth.
Before they can retrieve it, a Bikashi battle cruiser snatches the capsule from under their noses.
It’s a race against time as Hickory, Jess, and Gareth head to the Bikashi home world to retrieve the capsule’s contents before the Empire learns its secret and the balance of power in the galaxy is changed for eternity.

  42. Greetings,

I found your review site on booksirens.com and was interested in your services if time and interest permit. Dreamshere is a heavily philosophical, chaotic, nihilistic story without heroes, plot, climax, or purpose; but with cats, flying pigs and meaning. The writing style is non-traditional and contains art at the beginning of each chapter.

I can be reached at samsontonauac@tutanota.com for an .epub version, or this weekend (October 12th and 13th) it will be available to down for free on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YB59PSQ

Your review, positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated if time permits.

  44. Hi!

I recently self-published a (hard sci-fi, 110k words) book—The Gods Who Chose Us—which is a reimagining of global mythology from a science fiction perspective (https://amzn.to/2VIILWy). In essence, it's about an emerging war between the Greek and Norse pantheons, with Earth stuck in the middle (longer description at the end of message). I'd happily give you a free copy in exchange for a review on Amazon or Goodreads (paperback and/or eBook). I know this is a long-shot, but thanks for taking the time to read my email!

Note: I hired a professional editor (and artist and interior designer), so if nothing else the book should read as professional.

    Story:
The Aesir are desperate to free themselves from the hegemonic rule of Olympia. They send a covert team to Earth to leverage the humans as allies in their pending conflict with their Olympian overlords. By doing this, the Aesir know they will be disrupting an experiment the superior Olympians have been secretly performing on the human race for nearly one thousand years.

However, the Olympians aren’t too keen on allowing the Aesir to tamper with their clandestine plans for humans. The Aesir and Olympians on Earth become entwined in a cat-and-mouse game as they hunt one another, search for unwittingly genetically modified humans, and explore underground facilities at many of Earth’s oldest monuments, uncovering forgotten and dangerous research.

  45. My brothers just published their first book. It's a Sci-fi Fantasy. If you have time it'd be really great if you could review it.

Star Clans: A Troll Hunt by H.A. Austin and Peter Austin

Welcome my friends to the stars. Those brilliant lights that dance in the void. A Troll Hunt is a tale of adventure among the lanterns in the dark, in ships that out fly light, of warriors in search of glory. Hector was on holiday at his family’s home. But strange things are aflight. Trolls, the giant, grey-scaled, shark-toothed aliens, have been raiding the home worlds. And Grandmaster Randolph has need of a captain to investigate. Jarl Hector is swept away on an adventure across the airless void with clashes against both friend and foe. And everything becomes more complicated when Puck, Fairy Prince of Red World, invites himself along. Lord Puck torments everyone with his tricks. Between friendly foes and hostile helpers, everything was far too complicated. So naturally, Hector charges the Grandmaster five times the normal price. It’s only fair when you nearly died so many times.

  46. I saw your review website on BookSirens and wondered if you'd be able to review my new book.

The title is Tomorrow's Wilderness. The genre is Science Fiction, sub-genre is Genetic Engineering. Length is about 60,000 words. Book link on Amazon is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082PV4S38. I'd be delighted to send a MOBI file (or whatever format you like!) for your review if you are interested.

Tomorrow's Wilderness is a collection of closely linked short stories, set about 60 years in the future, and each features the intrepid duo of Joy (Prof. Williams) and George (Prof. Martinez). In each story, George and Joy face (and solve!) a genetic or environmental challenge, ranging from invasive plants to escaped genetic constructs. The stories are intentionally lighthearted, although a deeper theme of environmental stewardship underlies all the stories. Some significant effort has been made to keep the science fiction a reasonable extrapolation of known science (an Appendix is provided which differentiates between the science and the science fiction).

  48. Greetings Royce,

I've recently updated my science fiction short story collection 'Starships and Apocalypse: Volume One,' located at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TQM2V7L and thought you may like to take a look?

The stories are quite diverse but cover Space Opera, Space Exploration, some Time Travel, 'GameLit' (e.g. Ender's Game/40k) humorous and a modern day demon apocalypse. There are 5 stories around 1.5-2k words, 3 longer stories 5-8k words, 2 novelletes of around 15k each and a novella of 41k words, totalling 99k words.

    The book description reads:
"From the bowels of the Earth to the edge of the universe, find out what it means to be an intelligent piece of powered armour, a demon that can only relieve his pain by eating people, play as a commander in alien wargames or flee for your life from the rest of the galaxy.

Discover stories of immortality, exploration, space opera, time travel and survival in an often bizarre and cruel universe. Armies clash, heroes flee, and a fridge somehow gets involved in the action.

These and more short stories await the curious and the unprepared."

If you're interested I'd be happy to send the file in whatever format suits you.

Thanks for reading and your consideration.
    Cheers

  53. Hello Royce. I hope all is well with you. I have a science fiction book titled "A Hole In The Universe". The story occurs during the time Mars is being terraformed. Word count is 77,000.

Nellie Writson was proud of her Martian roots, tracing her heritage back to when Mars was first being terraformed. As the geologist and the assistant director of the Martian Biological and Geological Department, she was excited when her team discovered ancient alien columns. It was a discovery of a lifetime, but there were more surprises waiting for her.

Captain Jaret McLeod knew it was time to leave a dangerous job of mining the asteroids. He considered himself fortunate to be made captain of a transport ship and later of an old passenger ship. When news of a distant planet orbiting the sun came to his attention, he didn’t know how it would impact human civilization and himself.

    Sci-Fi/Adventure/Space Opera [109K]

    Title: Search for Sol

Time-sensitive Seers and ancient predictive algorithms from around the universe have begun crunching quantum cosmic equations as reality approaches a critical event horizon, the birth of the next and possibly, most powerful immortal ever. They're searching, and want the being to either, join them, or be killed before becoming too powerful.

Humans and non-humans native to the Milky Way have been fractured and lost, since a mysterious event called The Cataclysm disabled all faster-than-light technology and ruined most of the databases in the galaxy. What was once a prosperous and interconnected galaxy, fell apart over thousands of years and ended with isolated planets and star-systems, ready to be taken advantage of by crafty aliens.

A galactic storm is brewing. The only hope for Earth and the next immortal born on that planet are the defenses and allies prepared by the first immortal born on that planet.

At the end of the universe, the very fabric of reality is beginning to contract, winding up to the Big Crunch. Alone and isolated on the planet Lyra, humans evolved late on a resource-poor world. Doomed to die out as food and minerals dwindle, a scientist makes a chance discovery allowing people and vehicles to travel through ‘thinnings’ – patches of space linking universes.

Kael and Alessia are explorers charting where the thinnings go and more importantly, bringing back valuable resources to Lyra, trying desperately to extend the lifespan of their home world. Alessia’s father, Ben, set out two years ago to uncover another species’ reference to a ‘solution’ to the big crunch problem – but never returned. A chance discovery leads Kael and Alessia to a clue, prompting another expedition to see if they can avoid the mistakes of the past and help to unravel the mystery.

Kael, Alessia and their gruff bodyguard Basteel retrace Ben’s steps, seeking closure for Alessia, a solution for Lyra and together begin a voyage through wild, weird and wonderful planets.

  59. Hi Royce,

I'm an Australian author/academic/nerd and I have a new sci-fi/adventure book for review entitled "Edge of Extinction" (word count ~92,000). Synopsis is provided below.

The year is 2086 and the planet is deteriorating fast. Extreme weather events and unseasonable climate have become the norm. Millions die of famine and drought each year and yet the population continues to grow, reaching well over 10 billion people. After millions of years of evolution, humanity faces collapse.

    But all is not lost.

There is another planet, far from our solar system, which may be capable of supporting human life – Arcadia. Dr. Amber Lytton and Dr. Joel Carter, life-long friends and academic colleagues, along with a team of international scientists, are sent to determine if the planet is suitable for colonization.

But their awe and wonder at the similarities between Earth and Arcadia fade quickly as they learn they are not the only complex lifeforms to set foot on this planet. Sharing is not an option.

  60. Hi Royce

You have the dubious distinction of being my first query.

Shadows of Nagasaki is a sci-fi/horror tale about atomic karma and re-animated nuclear shadow victims who take revenge on the descendants of the Manhattan Project during the 75th anniversary of f the A bombs being droopped on Nagasaki

I will be launching the novel at the same moment the A bomb launched on Nagasaki 75 years ago - August 9 of this year.

I am beginning my search to send the novel out to reviewers covering the genre and was wondering if you might like a read?

My agent sent the novel to two of the Big 5 publishers who provided good feedback but passed. So I am self-producing.

    Hey there,

I would certainly appreciate a review from you of my sci-fi/speculative novel, Datapocalypse, and thank you in advance for offering this kind of thing for self-published authors.

Quick synopses of Datapocalypse (I'm offering two, depending on how you're feeling today. Amazon has the longer description):

    1) A story about data, love and the end of the world

    2) A story about how buildings and large objects start disappearing because people are taking too many selfies with them (kind of a spoiler, but hopefully piques your interest)

I'm happy to send you a free ebook to give it a go - just let me know. It's available an Amazon and Goodreads. I really think you'll find the story interesting since the subject matter is so relevant to today (minus the pandemic / elephant in the room) and could spark some great debate if enough people read it - which your review will certainly help with!

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

  63. Hi Royce,

I hope you’re doing well, and keeping safe in these strange times.
I’m a debut author, with my novel STORMBLOOD releasing from Gollancz/Orion publishing on June 4. I’m getting in touch to see if you were keen on reviewing it for your blog! It’s a character-driven space opera about the DNA of extinct aliens that’s used as a drug, making users permanently addicted to adrenaline. We pitched the book as Mass Effect 2 and Blade Runner 2049 meets the Red Rising series.

    Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42683840-stormblood

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how helpful book bloggers and reviewers are for helping debut authors get the word out. . .especially in a time like this where book sales are suffering. If STORMBLOOD is your kind of book, any reviews or coverage would be awesome.

If you’re okay with me doing a guest post on your blog, that too would be excellent.

Thanks so much, and keep up the awesome reviews.

  64. I am seeking a review of my new science fiction novel, SOLEDAD OF THE DESERT (84,180 words).
Human colonists on a far planet have come close to fratricidal extinction.  Fed up with the hierarchical and violent governing "officers," some find refuge in the desert.  The refugees are practitioners of nonviolence and meditation who attempt to establish an alternate way of life in the new world.
Some would prefer to be warriors.
One of them is young Soledad, whose coming-of-age story dovetails with the desert dwellers' efforts to survive when their refuge is discovered by their enemies.
The novel is just about to be published, and I'd be thrilled to send any e-book format or other format. Please e-mail me at meredithsuewillis@gmail.com

  69. Hi Royce - I wonder if you would consider reviewing my novel. It is 'An English Apocalypse' just under 100k words.
    Paul_jc_edge@yahoo.co.uk

    Abstract:
Our World faced extermination by a group of infected meteoroids from space, which carried an infection that turned ordinary people into rabid killers. This is a record of how two estranged twin brothers survived the apocalypse. One brother planned for the survival of our species and made ready for the world to come on a small island in Scotland, persevering despite having to manage the utter disbelief of the people around him. The other, having survived a harrowing cacophony of life events, learned to harness his anger and channel it to help those who survived. Together they faced the abyss shoulder to shoulder.

It really is worth investing your time, please look at the comments I have had so far...
    • “An English Apocalypse by Paul J.C. Edge is an exceptional zombie apocalypse story”
    • "I had a difficult time putting the book down”
    • "This is NOT a cheap zombie story all about blood and gore; rather it’s a well-crafted blockbuster novel about a zombie apocalypse that feels all too real”
    • “An English Apocalypse moves slowly at first, laying every brick of the two main characters’ backstories. Anyone who isn’t interested in the fine details of the fortress as it’s being built might find the first half of the book to be a little slow. However, author Paul J.C. Edge knows his stuff about survival in a fallen world and he manages to keep it all interesting”.
    • “Once the catastrophe arrives, the story kicks into overdrive. There is no sitting quietly in a bunker until everything passes. The action and violence come fast and furious”

  70. Hi, Royce. My name is Steve Bellinger and I am the author of 'e-Pocalypse: The Digital Dystopia is Coming,' a science fiction dystopian novel.

Matty Williams’ retirement as a computer tech goes awry when he and his girlfriend Divvie discover that new social technologies are subtly affecting the minds of their users. As they delve deeper into the technological marvels revolutionizing the lives of virtually everyone on the planet, they are set on a course that leads directly back to their employer, Roydon Technologies.

Now there’s the latest gadget, augmented reality glasses known as “Augies,” that can literally recreate reality for the user, all controlled by the ruthlessly efficient global computer system with the deceptively reassuring name of NANA.

Will Matty, Divvie, and their super geek friend, Howard, save humanity from a life of programmed subservience, or will their attempt to thwart NANA result in something even worse?

5 stars! "The story built the level of intrigue and tension nicely, increasing its hold over the reader by fully immersing them in a future world. The technology introduced was believable and shocking, disturbingly charged with both wonder and terror...I would recommend this book to anyone."

  71. Hi there!

I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my novel, Warehouse Dreams. This is an adult soft sci-fi romance, at 96,000 words, published from S&H Publishing. Here's the synopsis from Goodreads.

Kendle's job is on the line every time she rescues a Wild teen. But Wilds, with their uncontrolled psychic abilities, need her help. They need the chronically underfunded Warehouse, the only school available for Wilds. But accepting a teen with potentially dangerous abilities puts her at odds with her boss; refusing means the teen faces life institutionalized, sedated, and under restraint.Stephen, the new telepathy teacher, is a Bred. His wealthy parents paid for his perfect genetic code. He's not used to the Warehouse's long hours, to students who float beds through walls during nightmares, or send fishbowls through windows-not to mention the food sucks. The only bright spot is the fascinating Wild teacher in the next room who plays amazing cello or guitar music late at night.Kendle doesn't think Stephen belongs at the Warehouse, but when he helps save her and her students from a violent mob, she wonders if she was wrong...and if a Bred like Stephen might fall for a Wild like her. But Kendle has little time for romance. As society ramps up its hatred ofWilds and the Warehouse's resources stretch desperately thin, Kendle must find a way to keep the director from expelling the most gifted students as dangers to the school.

  72. Hello Royce,
I've found your contact info through Wordpress and it only took a bit of research for me to believe my debut novel, "The Mother (Broken Tomorrow)" would suit your literary palate perfectly (304pages).
It strays quite a bit from typical fantasy stories in terms of content but it also provides believable and for one of the characters scientific reasons behind the unfolding events, the outlandish locations and the implausible creatures.
    (More at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085X36CTY )
Because it's part of a series, you may encounter while reading hints about upcoming stories. Before that happens though, I'd like to get an honest and impartial review from someone knowledgeable in the genre, to see if my passion is worth pursuing.
I'd really appreciate it if you'd provide me that review. To that end, please let me know how to proceed with sending you a digital copy.
    Sincerely,
    Andrei David

PRANKS. OIL. PROTEST. JOKES BETWEEN NEWLYWEDS.

AND ONE HILARIOUS SIEGE OF A MAJOR CORPORATION.

Remmy grows up with Beth in Bellhammer, Illinois as oil and coal companies rob the land of everything that made it paradise. Under his Grandad, he learns how to properly prank his neighbors, friends, and foes. Beth tries to fix Remmy by taking him to church. Under his Daddy, Remmy starts the Bell Hammer Construction Company, which depends on contracts from Texarco Oil. And Beth argues with him about how to build a better business. Together, Remmy and Beth start to build a great neighborhood of "merry men" carpenters: a paradise of s’mores, porch furniture, newborn babies, and summer trips to Branson where their boys pop the tops off of the neighborhood’s two hundred soda bottles. Their witty banter builds a kind of castle among a growing nostalgia.

Then one of Jim Johnstone’s faulty Texarco oil derricks falls down on their house and poisons their neighborhood's well.

Poisoned wells escalate to torched dog houses. Torched dog houses escalate to stolen carpentry tools and cancelled contracts. Cancelled contracts escalate to eminent domain. Sick of the attacks from Texaco Oil on his neighborhood, Remmy assembles his merry men:

"We need the world's greatest prank. One grand glorious jest that'll bloody the nose of that tyrant. Besides, pranks and jokes don't got no consequences, right?"

  79. Good day, Royce,

My name is Catherine Fitzsimmons. I am the owner of Brain Lag, a publisher of science fiction and fantasy novels based in Milton, Ontario. I wanted to see if you were interested in reading an ARC of CLONING FREEDOM by Stephen B. Pearl.

In the early 21st century, Rowan is fighting a secret war against alien pirates bent on subjugating all of mankind.

At least, that's what she thinks. In reality, it's a thousand years later, Earth has long been part of an interstellar and interspecies republic, and she's a character on Angel Black, an e-entertainment that allows viewers a complete sensory experience through her perspective. Who needs actors when you can clone famous performers and splice in some alien DNA? Since studio clones have no rights, their lives and experiences can be tailor-made for the program.

It's just too bad the clones don't know that.

Ryan Chandler was a decorated war hero until he was cloned to save his life. His career options died with his original body and the best job he can get is a technician on Angel Black. He's planning to escape to a newly colonized system when Rowan is scheduled to be killed off.

With help from unexpected allies, Ryan stages Rowan's rescue, but getting her off the set is only the beginning. To succeed, they must evade a manhunt supported by the state that fears Rowan's liberation might be the triggering event of a clone rights movement that could cost the establishment billions and shake the foundations of human society.

Can two clones find their freedom in a society that treats them as second-class citizens?

CLONING FREEDOM is releasing December 4th. The standard trade paperback is 416 pages long, with a dyslexic-friendly version available that is 556 pages. It will also be available on Kindle and epub. Please let me know if you would be interested in an ARC and I would be happy to send one in your choice of format.

    Cheers,
    Catherine

This 302 page (94k word) science fiction novel recreates the unsettling feelings behind popular television anthology series like The Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. Walking through the experiences of Darien Mamon, we can only watch as he is pushed and pulled by the opposing forces competing for control of his mind.

Darien thought MemorSingular hired him for his brain. They did. They just don’t need what’s in it. After finding details of a century old knowledge retention program, Darien learns the company has been grooming the minds of new hires to be overwritten with the personas of their most valued employees.
An old classmate, Nancy, could be Darien’s only chance to escape MemorSingular with his mind intact. Unfortunately, Nancy hates his guts, and if she doesn’t change her mind the company will change his.

I can provide paperback, epub, mobi, or PDF. The book cover can be seen at either Goodreads or Amazon I can be reached through my email address: stevennedeau@gmail.com

  85. Hi Royce,

I hope this finds you well and safe.

I would love if give my new book, Mercy In The Blood, a review! You're right, I do crave honest criticism. :) The genre is sci fi/horror, with definite thriller aspects.

    Here's a burb I wrote about it:
Dex Aldrun is running for his life—nothing new about that. But racing through the solar system with a pack of murderous vampires on his heels? Well, that’s new.

The bodies start dropping, and no matter where Dex tries to hide, a gang of killers—a genetically modified species of humans calling themselves vampires—relentlessly hunt him down. Dodging these psychopaths is only half the battle. He must sneak back to Earth to face the murderers on his own terms and settle an old score with the vampire leader—his father.

Fleeing with the only other survivors of a massacre, Dex discovers a young orphan girl captured by vampire geneticists and tortured with cruel experiments. Within her blood lies the key to defeating the vampires—and the vampires will kill anyone to get her back.

Torn between risking the girl’s life to kill his father or risking his own life to save the girl, Dex must find a way to reconnect with his own humanity to decide.

Let me know if your interested! I can send you a digital or paperback edition, which ever you prefer.

After telling the bum to buzz off, Phelps is shaken to his core by visions of a mysterious underground base where eight-foot-tall reptilians are torturing and murdering a young woman and terrorizing caged children.

When Phelps flashes back to his young brother’s dead eyes, it tears his guts up all over again. While working a missing child case, the enigmatic man keeps showing up in different guises. Phelps is unaware that the man’s sudden appearances coincide with a massive explosion of Divine light energy which is now reaching earth and mutating Phelps’ DNA so that he can evolve into the next generation human with incredible abilities including the uncanny ability to enter into other dimensions and other realities.

As Phelps is progressively evolving, he learns that he has been chosen to be mankind’s leader against the child-sacrificing Reptilians and their human minions who have collectively infiltrated the highest echelons of power all across the globe.

Danny Phelps sees a chance for redemption. First he must uncover the horrifying truths about human history and the nature of evil. Then confront the mind-bending secret of the enigmatic man’s identity. 87. Book Titles) My Hell Holes series of alien invasion novels) Hell Holes 1: What Lurks Below, Hell Holes 2: Demons on the Dalton, and Hell Holes 3: To Hell and Back.
Genres) Alien Invasion, Military SciFi (Books 2 and 3), Paranormal, Horror
    Word Counts) 39,000 / 52,000 / 100,000

    Book 1)
It’s August in Alaska, and geology professor Jack Oswald prepares for the new school year. But when hundreds of huge holes mysteriously appear overnight in the frozen tundra north of the Arctic Circle, Jack receives an unexpected phone call. An oil company exec hires Jack to investigate, and he picks his climatologist wife and two of their graduate students as his team.

Uncharacteristically, Jack also lets Aileen O’Shannon, a bewitchingly beautiful young photojournalist, talk him into coming along as their photographer. When they arrive in the remote oil town of Deadhorse, the exec and a biologist to protect them from wild animals join the team. Their task: to assess the risk of more holes opening under the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and the wells and pipelines that feed it. But they discover a far worse danger lurks below.

When it emerges, it threatens to shatter Jack’s unshakable faith in science. And destroy us all....

    Book 2)
When hundreds of huge holes mysteriously appeared overnight in the frozen tundra north of the Arctic Circle, geologist Jack Oswald picked Angele Menendez, his climatologist wife, to determine if the record temperatures due to climate change was the cause. But the holes were not natural. They were unnatural portals for an invading army of demons.

Together with Aileen O'Shannon, a 1,400-year-old sorceress demon-hunter, the three survivors of the research team sent to study the holes had only one chance: to flee down the dangerous Dalton Highway towards the relative safety of Fairbanks. However, the advancing horde of devils, imps, hellhounds, and gargoyles will stop at nothing to prevent their prey from escaping. It is a 350-mile race with simple rules. Win and live; lose and die....
    Book 3)
The beautiful young photojournalist, Aileen O’Shannon, is not who she seems. For centuries, she has been a demon hunter, a sorceress who has tracked and killed small bands of demons that occasionally crossed into our world. But that changed when she joined Dr. Jack Oswald’s expedition to study one of hundreds of huge holes that mysteriously appeared overnight in the frozen tundra north of the Arctic Circle.

Instead of small sporadic incursions, hordes of demons now pour from these hell holes like water from a sieve. With bombing little more than a losing game of whack-a-mole, Earth’s armies are unable to destroy the portals. When Jack suggests a desperate plan, he is drafted to join Aileen and a team of other sorcerers and Army Rangers to travel to the demon homeworld. Once there, they will unleash a plague virus and set off a nuclear bomb to destroy the portal complex. It’s a suicide mission. But Aileen has given Jack’s wife her word to bring him back safely, and the demons have already killed three men under her protection. Just how far will Aileen go to avoid losing another?

I am reaching out with the hope that you might be willing to consider my book for a review! It is a near future science fiction story (2057) called "The Devil Whispered" with roots in cyberpunk and detective noir. I'm a self-published author and this is my debut novel. The book is as of yet unpublished, but will be released on Amazon in paperback and e-book formats on 3/1/21.

Here is the associated blurb, to provide some more description:
    _______________________________

    The Darkness Is Closing In...

Retired special-forces commander Jacobi Slate is drawn into a downward-spiraling vortex of fear and doubt while investigating a brutal murder committed by an old friend. As evidence mounts that someone else might be pulling strings from the shadows, Jacobi struggles to understand a developing connection to his own past, which is quickly catching up to him.

Near-future cyberpunk collides with gritty detective noir in this fast-paced thriller that shines a light on both the vast shortcomings and the noble heroism of the human condition. To unravel the mystery, Jacobi will pull on every thread while chasing leads from the squalor of the most dangerous streets to the high-tech towers of the wealthy elite on his quest to understand a truth he might not be ready to face.

  91. Hello Royce,

I have a book I would like you to consider reviewing.
The tile is. Warning! Malfunctions may occur.
It is a science fiction western (sort of like firefly)
    It is approximately 76,500 words.
    My contact email is: bjvalli@gmail.com

Book blurb = John Alexander, ex-military, skilled marksman, pilot, battered, cynical. He can strip back any engine and rebuild it before his friend, co-pilot and tech-head Tyson Blake, can finish his spiced coffee.

When the duo are being pursued by a ruthless bounty hunter, Tyson decides to press a newly-acquired piece of alien-technology that he has appropriately called, the ‘big-red-button’. Much to their surprise it does the job of shaking off their pursuer, but lands them in a part of the galaxy that really is far, far away.

    Thank you.

    Here's the blurb.

Mara Keres. A trained warrior and former highly respected peacekeeper. Note "former." Once, she had her life under control. Once, she had the trust of the galaxy.

Now she rots in the same prison she used to sentence people to. Solitary confinement for six years. Would've brought anyone else to their knees. Not her. Then an offer resurfaces, almost too good to be true. Ghosts of her past and demons come back to haunt her.

Will she ever make it out alive? Sometimes, facing your worst memories is worth the risk.

Thanks very much for your time!

  96. Hello Royce,
It would definitely be a great honor if you accept reviewing (as first book blogger?) my experimental novel Fear is the Key, co-written under my pen name Lars Amber with an advanced AI-language model. To my belief, it is the first book by AI with narrative coherence from the first paragraph to the last.
I think you are going to be intrigued by my Centaur Book-concept, possibly introducing a new trend in the making of fiction literature, with pilot readers so far having difficulties distinguishing what is human writing and what is machine writing. At the end, though, I think it is not more bizarre than using synthesizers in music composing.
But it is all about creativity, really, this is what makes the concept so awesome! Language algorithms are the key to our (better) future… I have related the experience at https://towardsdatascience.com/are-you-going-to-read-a-centaur-book-soon-44368fed8829
The genre may be labeled Contemporary sci-fi or Speculative fiction. The quality and enjoyment degree of such a unique literary product may only be appreciated by humans, of course! Meanwhile, the techie editorial staff of French Robot-Magazine calls this novel “a riveting thriller”:
    https://www.robot-magazine.fr/fear-is-the-key-de-richard-beer-un-thriller-palpitant-cree-en-collaboration-avec-lintelligence-artificie
The trade magazine Svensk Bokhandel, Sweden´s Publishers Weekly, is also preparing a piece on the topic.
For the moment being, I have a PDF-copy of the book (but I can easily convert it to ePub or Mobi format, just tell me which one you want to receive). Fear is the Key will be launched on Amazon as an e-book and in print in the coming weeks.
    All the best.

  97. Hope I find you doing well! I'm in Montreal and I was wondering if you'd be interested in taking a look at a short novella I wrote (it's only 45 pages)? I'm a professional writer, in film and television. Have won a Canadian Screen Award (our Oscars) for my documentary work about the Inuit, and also worked with Chad McQueen (son of Steve McQueen) on a biopic for Netflix; I've tried to bring that same attention to research to my science fiction writing, even if it's on the humorous side.

With everything being so grim, I wanted to write something that was light and fun like I used to read when I was young, because I haven't seen much of that out there - for me to read these days. As far as the food references in this particular story go, my brother used to part-own a gourmet restaurant in Dallas, Texas, and so we talk about that stuff all the time; also, my wife is Chinese and we've travelled there a lot... food obviously being central to Chinese culture... and naturally I tried tons of unusual things each time I visited.

Anyhow, the long and short of it is, these were the influences for my story. I hope you'll enjoy it and I look forward to hearing from you.

  99. Hi Royce,

Brand new indie here... I just bombed the platforms with four books and am finishing the fifth. The fifth book is Book 1 of the Human Singularity series and I am in the throes of tidying it up for publication.

However, one of the books already published is a prequel to that series called Outpost. A novella. Here's the synopsis:

    "...
The Human Singularity Series, spanning the Galaxy and delving into our inner-selves and what the Human being represents in the Cosmos.

Prequel to this exciting new series: Outpost.

Gar, an alien, at home in the distant Core of Systems at the centre of the Galaxy, has become a 'Terrorist' by necessity. Caught up within a corrupt system of power struggles and deceit, he must find his path to redemption and revenge. But when he is caught in an act of thievery, with two other complices, Gar is banished to a far Outpost. He spends his time collating information on Humans and their society and values. Resigned to years of outcast life, an opportunity arises when an exploration vessel from Earth visits the Outpost..."

If this resumé insterests you, I would be thrilled if you could consider for reviewing.

    Many thanks in advance, MIke.

  103. Title: A Ghost for A Clue (Book One, Immortology)
Genre: Science Fiction / Hard Sci-Fi / Paranormal
    Word Count: 120k

    Book synopsis:

The first book in a series tracing the origins of the science of Immortology

Bram Morrison, an aspiring astronaut, has always believed that death is where it all ends. Until he gets a phone call from a dead friend.

He tries to dismiss it as somebody’s bad joke, but the chilling mystery proves far too compelling. When Torula Jackson, a botanist, tells him her laboratory might be haunted, she offers him a chance to investigate—and he dares to look behind death’s door.

That choice puts a risk on his lifelong dream. NASA wants him to deepen the science of our world—not the afterworld. Exploring the bizarre is a sure way to invite ridicule. But his deepening relationship with Torula, compounded by a twist of circumstances, compels him to stay and chase the supernatural.

With each equation and each experiment, he gets closer to the answers humanity seeks about the physics of our soul, sparking objections from those who fear what he might discover. Struggling to reconcile his own skepticism with what is slowly unraveling to be real, he dares to investigate what happens to our memories after we die—starting with a ghost for a clue.

Thanks for your consideration and for providing reviews, it serves the writing and reading community very well.

  105. Hi,

My name is Asa Rubin. I'm a new author and recently published my book, Children of the Origin Project, on Amazon. It's a sci-fi/adventure novel with some amount of philosophy mixed in. Word count comes in at around 120,000. Here is a short blurb about the book:

Lifelong foster kids Jake Pham, Alex Garcia, and Sarah Powell have never had much control over their lives. But after they find a crashed spaceship in the forest with a dying giant inside, they are faced with a choice that will decide their destinies forever.

In his last moments, the giant transfers his knowledge and secrets to them. A war is being fought among the stars, and they have been tasked with completing his final mission to save his people. But it’s not an easy decision whether to stay or go. Joining the war means going up against a murderous regime and its demon-like supersoldiers. But if they do nothing, not only will they be condemning a civilization of trillions, they will be risking an invasion of Earth itself.

Twenty-five-year-old Astra Ching has never sought the spotlight. So when a mysterious black orb appears with a challenge for Earth and selects her to compete in its strange—and very public—game, she’s not pleased to find herself a sudden superstar.

The rules are bewildering, and there are no second chances for losers. Yet while Astra fights to stay alive and save the world from imminent destruction, the people of Earth are more interested in tabloids and gossip, like whether or not she’s engaging in a scandalous love affair with a fellow contestant . . . or the mysterious alien known only as Eleven.

In her struggle to survive, Astra forms tentative alliances with a handful of trustworthy friends. But as the global gossip seeps into the game and contestants are eliminated with each round, Astra’s celebrity threatens to become infamy and the line between friend and foe blurs.

    Here is the blurb:

    Death is not an escape.

One night Ezra Adkins is brutally murdered in her own home. As she was dying, she expects to wake up in the afterworld.

    She was wrong.

She loses consciousness and awakens into a horrific game of kill or be killed. Players can be killed an infinite number of times, but the only permanent way out of the game is their actual death by suicide.

Players in the game ruthlessly hunt each other for points, while others kill for fun. Most players have given up on finding an escape from the game and spiral into insanity, killing without reason.

    It’s mayhem.

Ezra soon learns who to trust and who to hunt down. But as she falls deeper into the game, she starts to lose herself as the bodies pile up. The line blurs between what she’s always known to be right and wrong.

Metal will clash. Blood will spill. Minds will break. And before it’s too late, Ezra must find an escape from the game before she becomes the real enemy.

It's the winter of 2057—the coldest for nine years. For failed family man Marcus Calvert, however, there are other matters on his mind.
Mistrustful of his government and cynical about change, he has chosen to live beyond the Outer Zones, free from the digital age and a world he no longer feels any affinity towards.
But now his son's future looks bleak, threatened by the very secrecy that even now still surrounds his family's past.
Amid rumours that his own idyllic lifestyle is under threat, Calvert begins a search for the truth, only to discover that everything he has learned since early childhood has been a lie.
On the horizon, Mother City casts its shadow over Sector 21, one he has spent the last twenty years determined to avoid.
But time is fast running out, and that option looks set to expire.

  118. Good day,
Thank you for having such a pleasant website. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through your most recent reviews and am hoping you would be able to take a look at my up and coming Sci-fi novel, called The Defender. It is roughly 86,000 words.
A woman battling depression and anxiety finds herself trapped in her own life, but when an alien device rips her away from Earth, she is forced to fulfill an impossible role and save the galaxies from destruction.
On Earth, Alexia Harmon is a mother and wife, but in a foreign galaxy, she is much more.
Torn away from her family, Alex is in an epic battle to return to Earth. While travelling the galaxy, she is pulled into the depths of a long-foretold prophecy.
She struggles to stay alive as she fights against an alien government that is trying to kill her, a species of genetically engineered creatures that are hell bent on her destruction, and the demons of her own mind that threaten to overthrow her.
With the help of alien medical enhancements, Alex finds the devices that have the ability to return her to Earth and will help fulfill her role as the defender, ultimately saving the galaxy.
My name is Larissa Soehn, and this is my first novel. I was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder three years ago and recently suffered a major depressive episode. This is what led me to writing a series about a character who suffers from a similar mental illnesses as myself. Like the character, I am a strong woman who happens to struggle with mental health.

I currently have the book in PDF, but I am working to secure other forms, like e-reader and the physical copy will be availabel soon.

    Thanks for your time,
    Larissa

  119. Hi Royce,

I'm really excited for the opportunity to send you a free copy of my debut novel: The Funk City Chronicles, a book about science-fiction breakdance battles! The novel is roughly 100,000 words long, and I have epub and PDF formats available. I'll drop the blurb below to help you make an informed decision. Feel free to reach out to me at sandmanjonesfiction@gmail.com to download your copy or if you have any questions, and have a great day!

Welcome to Funk City, the dopest place in the galaxy. Founded in 2793 by The Corporate Empire, Funk City is one of the crowning achievements of the Hip-Hop gospel, and—with the blessing of the Rap Gods—the city has known an era of peace under the leadership of the Kommissioners of Breakin and the Writer's Council.

But little do they know, The Corporate Empire has corrupted the Gospel, twisting it into something more… profitable. When a mysterious force descends upon the city, it will be up to a ragtag group of heroes—a krewless breakdancer, a disgraced monk, an incomplete robot, a malfunctioning cyborg, and a faithful member of Funk City's graffiti matriarchy—to save the day.

  120. Hey Royce,
I would love to hear your thoughts and review of my new sci-fi novel. Tell me what you think. Traders of the South Seas is an exciting YA adventure story set in the modern day about a young man from around New Orleans who is forced into a futuristic, sci-fi world located near the South Seas, a world called the Traders Terminal—a ruthless, intricate world centered around the mining and exchange of a coveted, yet scarce, gem: minosium. This gem has an imponderable amount of potential energy and is able to power fascinating weapons, machinery, and more.
In order for the main character to join this secretive society to mine and trade minosium at the Traders Terminal, he must pass and survive the dangerous Series Trials, which is a collection of various unknown tasks that test his intelligence and fighting abilities against other fellow trainees, who all seek to obtain the revered Registered Extractor license. With this license, men and women may trade this sought-after gem at the Traders Terminal for riches and glory.
Intertwined with the main story line, the main character holds an ancient Egyptian amulet given to him by his deceased parents that is bizarrely tied to the Traders world and the origins of minosium, causing him to question who his parents truly were, and how were they involved with this mystical Traders Terminal.
The story shares similarities with the novel, Shadow and Bone, and is like a mixture of Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. The target audience is young adults through 24 years old. I have completed two other novels within the Traders world, though I have not published them yet.

  122. Would love a review from a fellow author. My Hell Holes series is science fiction - Alien Invasion. Books 2 and 3 have a lot of realistic present day military (Air Force and Army). My latest book (a prequel so it can be read first) is Hell Holes 4: A Slave's Revenge. It definitely needs more reviews.
    105,000 words.
Blurb: When demonic aliens kill his father and transport 15-year-old Paul Chapman, his sister, and mother to Hell as slaves, he learns just how far he’ll go to survive, get revenge, and regain his freedom. A prequel to the award-winning Hell Holes series of alien invasion novels, Hell Holes 4: A Slave’s Revenge is a story of love, loss, friendship, and survival under the most hellish of conditions.

    Genre - Science fiction/action/romance
    Word count - 149k

I grew up watching the Apollo missions and Star Trek. I started turning wrenches as a teen and remain a gearhead to this day. After writing two Trek fan fiction novels, I wanted to do an original work that projected a hopeful future, a human story and high intensity action. They say write what you know and what you love, and I poured it all into this one. My love for films is a big influence and Top Gun, Le Mans, Grand Prix, Rush and Ford vs Ferrari were all inspiring, but in every case, the machines mean little without a talented person at the controls...and each one has a life and dreams that push them to the limit.

    Intro,
Life in the 24th century has expanded to create the Six Worlds, but the personal trials we face are still there. Terry “Tug” Glenman has discovered that balancing a dual career of race driving and car building is more than a little stretch. At his shop and his California home, he’s spent the last decade with the love of his life. But when tragedy strikes, her worst fears come too close for comfort. In the aftermath, Tug is offered the chance of a lifetime. This could be the culmination of his dreams, but he quickly finds that fame and glory come with a very high price. Tug seeks his answers while driven by the haunted memory of his best friend and lured by a successful woman who can give him everything. Torn between a career that is his passion and everything at home he holds dear, he finds no easy decisions. This is where spirits soar and hearts are broken, while scores are settled at blinding speed in the perilous sport called Moonracing.

Adriana Buckowski is not normal. Her eyes are two different colors, making her less susceptible to the system’s propaganda, she has a unique connection with a boy named Zach, and she has questions.

Weird occurrences happen as she gets closer to her Calling Ceremony, where she’ll be given a position.

  128. Can you remember reading books in the bath?

This new Year I joined a gym - you will probably say that was somewhat unwise, and potentially a financially hazardous thing to do, but I told myself I needed to purge the pandemic paunch once and for all and reckless parted with my cash, found some lycra and training shoes and headed into the unknown.
My new gym is quite large, with a training room stuffed with machines with screens, racks of implausibly heavy weights, and gorgeous pine and mirror line studios. What's more at the rear there is a labyrinthine spa which I have yet to fully explore but includes multiple saunas ( with different aromas), wet rooms, plunge pools, a heated outdoor pool, 2 jacuzzis and most deliciously a salt-water meditation pool the size of a tennis court.

It was here I rediscovered the pleasures of reading while soaked in hot water.

And not just me. I have to say I thought I had entered heaven when last Sunday evening I arrived at the poolside only to discover two others who had ditched their screens, and were chilling with a paperback in one hand and an alcoholic drink in the other.
Can you imagine how good that feels? So good.

Anyway, I wanted to provide you with something to read which I hope will be as satisfying with or without the hot water.

Called Aliens in Windsor, it's a Science Fiction (Cozy Sci-Fi) novella, one of five in a series which I wrote last year. It was my antidote to not being able to travel to write five short novellas set in remote and exotic locations.

The heroine is a female SETI scientist called Alison. And so... Alison measured her life in decades. Ten years gaining a double PhD is astrophysics and engineering. Ten years travelling the world from Dark Skies sites to Large telescopes research units. Two years teaching at a boys boarding school. Two years that felt like ten, until aliens landed in the Quad outside the Chapel.

It's a 7000 word novella. It's a fun light read, and I would really appreciate a review from you.

Many thanks, and if you would like to read it in the bath (a paperback is available) . Don't forget the bubbles!

    Thanks,

Sally Dickson writing as Sally Ann Melia (sally.dickson@btinternet.com)

  129. Hi, Royce

Seeking reviews for my recently published book, Grosjean.
(300 years in the future, space military, spaceships, space pirates, action, adventure, engaging characters, sciencey stuff).

    Blurb:
Truth is an illusion...or is it?

Pirates and corporate criminals will never die out. In 2337, Earth has expanded its domain into space, colonising the dark abyss as far as Jupiter. The need to travel faster than light, to stretch farther into the galaxy, comes with humanity’s growth—and with it, corruption and greed.

Captain Alanis Grosjean of the Commonwealth Corp always thought she had life figured out. Be honest and dedicated in protecting and serving Earth and its citizens, do the job right, follow orders, finish the mission. But when one space pirate dies, despite ending the mission, the next thing she knows, it’s a dull routine of patrolling space like a traffic warden. She may have kept her rank and ship, but the “deserved reprieve” seems more like a demotion.

The elusive space pirate Norstrom may have led the world to believe he was dead, but lately it seems the dead can be killed again. Death threats force him out of hiding to seek the help of the one person he trusts, his old lover, Grosjean.

As Grosjean and Norstrom join forces to ferret out the source of the threats, they discover the gruesome truths behind the destruction of a Commonwealth Corp scout ship, underhanded corporate deals, greed, and terrifying research. Before long, Norstrom’s pirate crew from the Drunken Sailor, long written off as dead, make a dramatic reappearance.

Will they be in time to save the galaxy from corporate criminals? Will their history hinder them, or make them work together like a well-oiled engine? And will Captain Grosjean finally figure out her life and what makes her happy?

  131. The Jabberwock Enigma (book 1 of The Jabberwock Continuum)
    Hard core science fiction
    125,000 words approx.
    By Patrick J Stoner
    Patrickstoner34@gmail.com

Hello. I am looking for reviews for my new SF series The Jabberwock Continuum. This is hard-core science fiction with the emphasis on science: there are no laser guns, warp drives or noisy battles in space – although there is a sentient android (who, she assures me, she does not dream of electric sheep.)
Book One, The Jabberwock Enigma, is published through Amazon and Book 2, The Vorpal Sword Revelation, will come out in June. The series kicks off with jack Fletcher, a cyber bank robber, who grew up on Earth but was born on a habitat called Gaia. When the android melanie (lower case intentional) comes to find him, he is drawn into a battle with the Nel, an astonishingly beautiful but sadistic race who are intent on turning the human race into cannon fodder – or food.
As the title suggests, the series is a reference to the Alice books by Lewis Carroll, but it is not a reworking of these books. Instead, it takes as its premise the recognised science fiction device that the universe consists of numerous planes, each one slightly different from the next. In the Jabberwock series, in each plane a notable literary figure is unknown.
In Jack’s version of Earth the author Lewis Carroll (pen name of Charles Dodgson) died at three days old. Naturally, nobody on this Earth has heard of the author’s books, yet Jack possesses both Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass as well as a copy of the Hunting of the Snark.
I’d be happy to send you a copy of Book 1 in whatever format suits you, if this is of interest. Thank you for your time.

I've just self-published my first book and I'm just searching for reviews and places to let people read it. It's called 'The Great Trespass: A World of Wolt Novel' by Steve Teets and it is on Amazon. From what I've read about you and your likes, I think you'd enjoy it. Here's the blurb:

Robert Gryffon, star of the Expedition Network's wildly popular television show 'Historic Anomalies', returns from a relaxing vacation in Costa Rica to a chaotic and altered world. Rob's fiancé was murdered a year prior in Morocco, his healthy mother is now dying from cancer, and an invading army of tens of thousands of demon creatures called the Wolt, ravage the Canadian Northwest on a path to the United States.

The reluctant TV star learns he is the centerpiece of an ancient alien prophecy and as the 'Meridian of Power', it is his destiny to turn back the demon hordes and save Humanity.

Chased across two divergent timelines by the U.S. Army, NSA, and monsters of legend, Rob needs to solve the prophetic mysteries. Who are the Wolt? When and where did they arrive? And can he solve these questions in time to prevent the Great Trespass?

It's getting some real positive feedback and you can see more details on Amazon or Goodreads if you want more information. And if you did want to read it, I'd send you a complimentary paperback.

  139. Hi Royce,

I'm a first time indie author and I would appreciate a review of my book, The Jellyfish Device. The jellyfish device is the most frightening technology this century and threatens the world as we know it. Here is the blurb:
The Jellyfish Device is a plausible hard science fiction thriller set in 2054 Canada. In the background, the far-right opposition party stages a coup and they arrest the Prime Minister and his cabinet. The press asks where is the army? The sound of explosions on Parliament Hill thunder the answer, but when one threat is resolved, a more dangerous one emerges
Jade is a beautiful Chinese-Canadian ex-gangster, but she wants to leave her past behind. Kevin is a genius hacker and veteran from the second war in the Ukraine, with issues of his own. Kevin’s luck was improving when he was hired to find the kidnapped son of a robber baron and he enlists the help of Jade for her uncanny intuition and fighting skills. In the process, Jade and Kevin are irresistibly drawn to each other, but Jade has a secret she fears will scare him off. She used to be a little boy.

Kevin and Jade become ensnared in the Apostles cult which is so sinister; it not only threatens Canada, but the entire world. Kevin faces a gut-wrenching dilemma, and must help the Apostles to protect Jade, or does Jade need to protect Kevin? Abandoned by the authorities, they are the only ones who can stop the Apostles from using the Jellyfish Device, but the clock is ticking.

You may contact me at william.marshall.future@gmail.com and I can send it to you in any format you would like, but it is also free on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.

  141. Hi, Royce,

I'm very interested in an honest review of my newly published science fiction novel. It's a very different kind of dystopia, with a pristine environment and humanity struggling to survive.

It's listed on goodreads and amazon and I have a web site at https://inigopress.com

    My email address is inigo3261@gmail.com

Title: Terraformed Earth - New Millennium

    Blurb:
Jesuit priest Ignatius Ryan, was banished by his church to the future in cryosleep to quiet a theological controversy, He returns to Earth after a millennium in deep space to find a constellation of military satellites orbiting silently above a pristine environment with little sign of humanity.

On the surface he meets a tiny remnant of humanity locked in a struggle with their gene-modified rulers for control of Earth and their future. To each side he represents both opportunity and threat.

When Grace, the AI who shepherded him through centuries, hacks into a military satellite and fires its laser, the rulers fear Ignatius' power and decree his death.

Ignatius, feeling abandoned by God and betrayed by the Church, is seduced by Morna, a survivor who is not what she seems. He dreams of a quiet life with her but cannot ignore the events that led to humanity's disappearance,

Seeking to understand an ancient genocide, Ignatius raises questions no one wants answered. As he struggles to recover his lost faith and find purpose in this new century, he finds love, uncovers dark secrets, faces betrayal, and fights for the life of a daughter he never imagined.

  145. Hey, Royce. My novel is called Where Madmen Rule. It's Science Fiction, 140,000-words.

Here's the pitch: "Boy meets girl, on a primitive planet spiraling into political oppression and chaos—and then a coup happens."

Here's the blurb: “When idled construction worker and ne’er do well gambler Mike Hayden stumbles over anti-slavery crusader Theresa Seyboldt being mugged in a dark alley one night, their destinies become intertwined forever.
Caught in a web of deadly danger and political intrigue, they quickly find themselves in the cross-hairs of a psychotic madman, trapped at ground zero in a bloody coup d’etat. Desperate to get Theresa's two adopted children to safety as the situation spirals out of control, the two lovers must confront an age-old truth. When unadulterated evil goes on a rampage, rational human beings have a choice to make; submit to a fate worse than death—or fight like cornered rats.
Where Madmen Rule is a headlong dive off the high board into a churning sea of true love, psychopathic tyrants, political oppression, and state-sponsored terrorism. There has never been a more relevant time to read it.”

  150. Sir,

If you’re up for reading a new author’s SF detective novel, I’ve got one for you. I’ve got a bunch of published work out there, but it’s all been scientific and computer related until this novel.

Hero of Terra is about a regular guy (Jason Kane, private eye) who gets drawn into a fight between two godlike superintelligences, of which one is insanely malicious while the other is merely very dangerous. Kane starts out knowing almost nothing about anything, including the fact he lives in a space station, that his girlfriend’s a witch and his new client’s an alien, or that he’s about to get tapped to take on a cybernetic god.

The book weighs in at around 113K words. It’s been up on Smashwords since late April, where it’s gotten downloads but no reviews. My beta reader summed it up like this:

'A very good story. An interesting world: technically, politically, morally. Very intense in second half. Cautionary tale for risks of AI. Timely with the on-going discussions on appropriate autonomy for war-fighting machines, and the limitations of “Contracts” to prevent disaster. A long way from Sorcerer’s Apprentice.'

If this sounds worth your time, please contact me at cdkoresko4321 at gmail. I’d be glad to send a copy in whatever electronic format you prefer, or a stack of paper if you’d rather. There’s also a very utilitarian website at exastro.com:9080/hero.html with the cover image, links to vendor pages, and the chapters of a Google AI-powered voice synthesized audio version.

    Thanks for your attention.

  152. Hi Royce!

I am wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing a book I just wrote. It is a dark sci-fi thriller, and explores the basic concept of a person being in distress, a piece of technology that is perceived to solve his problems, and the consequences that follow.

    Here is a synopsis:

"Jason Valentino is a man in distress.

His wife, Judy, had suffered a horrific accident at a gas station a few nights prior, leaving her with half her face scorched by fire. Unable to look past it, amidst a crumbling marriage in the aftermath, he discovers and undergoes an operation to his sensory perception to edit his reality, or in this case, his perception of Judy's face.

It goes well at first, but a series of questionable events lead him to believe that there was more altered to his reality than he had expected.

The challenge is if he could tell what they all are.

As Jay navigates parallel realities, mysterious people and buildings that appear and disappear, all the while struggling to bring back the normalcy that was once his life before the accident, his own understanding of existence begins to blur as he straddles the line between himself and what is real."

  153. Hi Royce,

Please consider reading my near-future SF space opera, IMPACT. In this debut novel I've strived for hard SF, all of the technology and science is realistic.

"We've found something here, something game-changing…" The explosion at the International Space Station (ISS) forever changed the direction of inventor Tamarind Chase's life. His life mission was to mine asteroids, but when the accident triggers an expanding debris field it strands the scientists at Moonbase Verity including the friend that once saved his life. He must find a way to rescue them and empower the secret they have discovered.

I can supply in any format. Thanks for considering.

  155. TITLE: Ranger 8
    GENRE: Science Fiction
    WORD COUNT: 83,119

    Hello,

My name is Robert Bender and I've written a science fiction adventure story that explores the near future of orbital space. What will the space around Earth and the moon look like in 50-100 years? This piece of speculative science fiction delves into the implications and global impact of true AI, vehicle concepts that could transport humans in and out of orbital space without complex multistage rocketry and much more.

This is also a story with heart. The characters were crafted with care and their interpersonal dramas were developed to give the story emotional depth.

    SYNOPSIS:
The year is 2062. Earth and Lunar orbit are open to the masses. In this new and wild frontier humanity needs peacekeepers. The Ranger Program was created to uphold orbital balance for all and ensure the safety of those who choose to traverse the first frontier of space.

Adrian Bowman, an Orbital Ranger, finds himself caught in the political machinations of a secret project deep in the Australian Outback, known only as Black Kite. His wife, Anna Bowman is a gifted robotics engineer for the Artemis Corporation. She comes into possession of a file that contains incriminating data that could reshape global politics forever.

This book launches on Amazon September 1st, 2022. If you're interested, I would be happy to send you an EPUB, interactive PDF or paperback version of this story.

You can learn more about the project at ranger8.com

  158. Dear Mr. Royce Sears,

    Hope all is well.

I noticed that you review sci-fi novels and was wondering if you would be willing to write me a review for my novel "Einstein in the Attic," if I send you a free PDF copy of my book?

The novel has won the Literary Titan Award, Firebird Book Award, and THREE honorable mentions at the prestigious New York, Hollywood, and San Francisco Book Festivals, so far and counting.

"Einstein in the Attic" is about the "search for truth by those that transcends time."

    Below is a quick blurb:

"Set against the backdrop of the war between science and God, reason and faith, Einstein in the Attic is the story of one scientist’s search for truth and meaning when faced with the ultimate question: Is there a God? Fleeing war-torn Lebanon, Adam Reemi’s faith is shaken by the hardships he has endured, but when he and a colleague successfully construct a nano hadron collider, and using sound waves, Adam finds unheard-of power at his fingertips. To help him answer the greatest question mankind has ever posed, he zaps the best philosophical minds of all time–namely Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Soren Kierkegaard, and Baruch Spinoza–from the past and into his attic. Not all goes according to plan, however, and Adam finds himself in a race against time to formulate an answer to the question of intelligent design… or risk losing everything."

I would be really excited for you to give this novel a chance, as others have, because I guarantee that it is something original you have not read for quite some time and would be thrilled to share it with you.

Thank you so much for your time.

    Synopsis
The title of the book is “Hearts & Brains”, a sci-fi anthology that attempts to connect the both. The
work is to depict Indian signature thought in science fiction milieu. It will be prudent to present my
perspective of sci-fi at this juncture; I believe that science fiction should have its roots in reality while
it does speculate to extrapolate it to a conceivable future. I also prefer a good twist at the end of the
story. The following is the summary of the stories given briefly.
    Details of the stories:
    1. Random Factor: A woman aspiring to become a ‘natural’ mother in a futuristic society
encounters a random factor that she hasn’t anticipated.
    2. Sphere: An Artificial Intelligence psychologist aspiring to create a ‘natural’ AI lands himself in
a strange situation that endangers his very own ‘sphere’.
    3. Speck: As astronomy professor and scientist, who experienced the most exhilarating event
and the most painful event of her life the same day, forty years ago, finds her ‘self’ in the
    most unexpected quarters.
    4. Replay: An expert in Virtual Reality, who came to India to address a seminar with a hidden
agenda, faces a situation that changes her life, forever.
    5. Survival: a cosmic event that made a small physiological change in human race results in a
series of events that not only endangers human existence but also lays a path for the destiny
of the human race – to be discovered and followed.

  161. The Abbey:
An Alpine story of compassion and courage of a hermit and a priest and of a strange redemption.

"Father, are you there?" As the the hoarse whisper reached him, Guido shook himself into startled wakefulness. Was he dreaming or had he really heard the voice of the hermit outside his cell? He dragged himself to the barred window of the cell and looked out. It was true. The dim and smoky light of the taper on the wall of the dungeon showed the grotesque figure of the old man wrapped in his dirty rags standing there.

'I must be losing my mind', thought Guido, as he stared at the apparition. The whisper came again. "Father, thank God, I've found you. We have no time to lose now. Come. We must leave this dreadful place".

What followed was a sequence of events that would stay with Guido Albans all his life. His capture, his trial, his sentence of auto da fe...

But most of all, he would remember the strange creature that had delivered him and the secret of its identity.

  163. A ruined castle near an English manor house haunted by apparitions. An execution carried out by a knight who comes from a six hundred year old past. What is the connection between the Portarlon Estate and a small French coastal town. Who is it who seems to summon up these ghosts at will?

As Dave sets out to investigate the strange events that occur in the castle, his enquiry takes him on a faraway quest till he reaches the mysterious curse that hangs over Portarlon. But will his knowledge enable him to deliver the inmates of the esate from the brooding terror that hangs over Protarlon?

His lordship looked troubled. "Exactly what are you suggesting, Davey?"

"Look, Billy. You're not going to believe the rubbish about the Black Knight looking at Eddie, with a six hundred year long look, are you? Heck, I tell you he wasn't looking at Eddie. It was somebody behind him. Or, something".

Kenyon broke the silence that followed this assertion. "A six hundred year old somebody?"

Dave favoured him with a frowning glance. "I know. It bothers me, too. How could Eddie see all that?" A tale of a pickpocket who sees a six hundred year old apparition and of an enquiry that trails from England to France.

  165. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Title: The Immortal Navigator - The Siren's Call
    Genre: Sci-fi/Paranormal
    Word Count: 60,000

A curious and unexpected cross between 'Apollo 13' and 'Interview With A Vampire.' This story plays with the idea of replacing a hyper intelligent sinister A.I. system trying to take over the ship that's usually part of deep space sci-fi, with that of a hyper intelligent Vampire with more complex and personal motives.

    THE STORY:

Written as a Captain's Log, a crew of eight rambunctious and uniquely capable characters who embark on a deep space mission investigating an Alien Signal originating from the Lazarus Star System, an unexplored region of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The Immortal Navigator is a member of the crew shrouded in mystery and folklore. Occupying separate living quarters deep in the belly of the ship, he's confined behind a hermetically sealed voice-lock door that only the crew's loyal Leader - Capt. Anders Freeman, can open. Everything known or assumed about The Immortal Navigator suggests supreme intelligence or horrific danger. That's because he's a tremendously old and devilishly powerful Vampire...

When a rogue coolant leak blows the ship off-course, threatening the crew's safety, dark powers and sole access to the ship's navigation controls affords the Immortal Navigator potential leverage. However, both he and Captain Freeman will require an epic battle of wits if he is to be 'granted' access into the rest of the ship to help resolve the mounting paranormal occurrences and thus discover the true origin of the obscure Alien Signal.

  166. Honest reviews are mother's milk for indie authors, and I thank you for taking on that service for so many. I would love for you to consider my novel. It's an epic, but paced like a blockbuster with the depth and world-building only a good book is capable of.

    Title: Children of the Black
    Genre: SciFi, Action

Blurb: As humanity's bloodiest conflict ends, those left behind struggle to carve a path free of its shadow, but old hates die hard. Uniquely qualified and entirely in over their heads, they embark on an adventure that holds not just the answers to their shattered pasts but the key to a brighter future, but in this universe, few things are as deceptive as an easy gig.

  167. Dear Mr. Sears,

My name is Steven R. Southard, and I co-edited the anthology Extraordinary Visions: Stories Inspired by Jules Verne. BearManor Media published this book in December 2022. Extraordinary Visions is the first fiction anthology sponsored by the North American Jules Verne Society. Your site is well known for reviewing works of science fiction, and I thought you might be interested in reviewing this anthology.

In Extraordinary Visions, a select group of modern authors took their inspiration from classics like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in Eighty Days, as well as Verne’s many other works. In their tales, these authors captured Verne’s sense of adventure, wonder, and respect for science. The anthology features stories by Mike Adamson, Joel Allegretti, Gustavo Bondoni, Demetri Capetanopoulos, Brenda Carre, Eric Choi, Christopher M. Geeson, Kelly A. Harmon, David A. Natale, Alison L. Randall, Janice Rider, Michael Schulkins, and Joseph S. Walker. Artist Amanda Bergloff created the stunning cover image. The book also includes many original illustrations from Verne’s novels.

  168. Greetings

If you are able to provide a review of my new kid's sci-fi adventure book, The Not So True Adventures of Brandon, Josh, and Adam, that would be much appreciated.. This is the second book in the True Adventures series I have self-published and is a sequel to the first one, The Almost True Adventures of Brandon and Josh. The new book is approximately 65,000 words and a brief snyopsis follows.

Eleven-year-old cousins Brandon and Josh return home safely at the end of their Almost True Adventure, only to discover that their cousin Adam has been captured by the very same aliens from the Intergalactic Council on Obedience to Parents they just escaped from!

Now the boys must figure out how to get back into space, rescue Adam, and return home safely again!

It's a Not So True Adventure full of action, surprises, old friends, new enemies, frenemies, and what's that about doubles troubles?

A hilarious and once-in-a-while serious story of past, present, and future antics, based on some of the three cousins' escapades in real life!

I can be contacted via my email, brittbran2.0@gmail.com

Thank you in advance for your assistance,

  169. Hi Royce,

I was curious if you'd be interested in a review copy of The Shattered Stars, an episodic series of science fiction novellas in the tradition of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but with a grungy universe and crew more reminiscent of Firefly. Currently I have the first two episodes available, with the first scheduled for release on March 21st, and three more planned throughout 2023.

More info, a cover, and intro to individual episodes available here:

    https://radicaledward.substack.com/p/a80f0be8-9312-436c-be2a-42b524492a70

Currently the episodes are available in mobi, epub, and pdf, and each of them takes about an hour and a half to read. I'd love to send them your way if you felt like taking a look!

Please feel free to contact me at icovoc@yahoo.com for copies. Thanks!
